Tag...I'm it

So, I've been tagged by my sister-in-law Taryn for the picture tag game. I've seen this on other blogs and think it is really fun, so here goes.

Here are the rules of the game:
1. Go to your my documents/my pictures
2. Go to your sixth file
3. Go to your sixth picture
4. Blog about it
5. Tag six people

My picture(s):

We have two "my pictures" folders--one for our old ditigal camera and one for our new digital camera, so I'm including both (since it is MY blog and I can do what I want). The above picture was taken at my sister Erin's bridal shower. She's holding my gift to her, which is something I made. I know, it was my feeble attempt at being crafty. I do that sometimes. This reminds me of what a beautiful bride Erin was--I love you Er-bear!

This is the picture from our "new camera" file. Hayden is four days old in this picture and sleeping in his favorite bouncy seat. Isn't he tiny?! And also, the cutest thing ever?! He is such a little boy now, so I can't believe he was ever this small. Even more, I can't believe I'm going to have another tiny newborn boy. I really can't wait to meet this little guy who is now kicking like crazy and likes to wake me up at 4:45 am for no reason :)

Also, I tag Erin and my Horne 58 girls: Kelli, Meliss, Linds, Kristina, and Kenz.

An Open Letter to Hayden

Dear Hayden,

I want to thank you for blowing me a kiss and smiling at me as I left you this morning at the playground at daycare. It helped me remember that I am still your mommy and you don't hate me even though I leave you three days a week. Leaving you is hard every day--I thought it would get easier with time, but it hasn't.

Thank you for being so good at our friend's birthday party last night. You played quietly with toys in the other room for an hour without even being asked, which allowed me to pretend to take credit when a friend leaned over and said "You have the perfect child!" (I conveniently didn't tell her about your occassional melt-downs and tantrums, but I am convinced that these are generally the result of your parents letting you get overtired). Thank you for being so patient while we shared a plate of cake and ice cream--you didn't even whine when it was my turn for a bite.

I promise I was not taunting you with candy at dinner tonight. I felt it was time we work on your understanding of "if, then" statements, so I was trying to explain that "If you eat this last bite of macaroni and cheese, then you get to eat this candy." I know you were sad that I didn't give you the Smarties outright, but I really couldn't keep a straight face when you opened one eye as you were fake crying to make sure that I was looking.

I am grateful for your inherently sweet disposition--I did not give you that, you just came that way and it is who you are. I feel so lucky that of all the people in the world, I get to be your Mommy and see your cute face every day. My heart is full.

Love,
Mom

The result of the ultrasound is...

I guess 85% of us can be wrong. Congrats to those three of you who guessed right on the poll. I am very excited for Hayden to have a little brother and that I have all the clothes (though I doubt that will stop me from buying more).

We had girl names all picked out, so I'm starting from scratch with boy names. Any ideas??

2 Years Old

Hayden had his second birthday this past week, and I can't believe I'm the mommy of a 2-year-old! He had a great day (in spite of the fact that he isn't smiling in any of the pictures below). He started out the day by going to the Phoenix Children's Museum, where he had fun playing with the Ramirez boys, getting lost in the noodle forest, and sending baby dolls down the slide (we'll have to work on his baby skills before his little brother or sister comes along).

He took a nice long nap in the afternoon, and we met daddy for dinner at Peter Piper Pizza. Hayden was so excited to start playing with the games that he barely ate any pizza.

Hayden won a ton of tickets at this weird alien-tricycle-race-on-the-moon game, and he used them to buy some candy and a jumping plastic frog. After dinner, we went home to open presents (see picture below of Hayden and all his loot). Thank you to everyone for your generous presents and cards!!

After Hayden opened his presents, he got to see his train birthday cake. He wasn't sure about blowing out the candles, so Daddy had to help. After the candles were blown out, he said "Bubbles?", since that is his only experience with blowing something. While he loved his train cake, he was so involved in playing with his new train set that he couldn't be bothered to eat some chocolate cake--with as much as he loves anything chocolate, you know this train set is awesome. However, he did enjoy a piece of cake the next day.

Here is a video of Hayden opening his presents. Caution: it's a long one, and is mainly for grandparents and other hardcore Hayden fans. We love you little guy!!
