Brothers

So, can you tell these two are brothers...maybe just a little bit?! This past week, Hayden has really started enjoying having his baby brother around (not that he wasn't sweet with Jonah before, but he just didn't pay him much attention). Jonah really loves being around Hayden, too. He calms right down when Hayden is around and he likes to watch him.

Yesterday, Hayden laid down next to Jonah on the bed and wanted to play "Hayden and baby take nap." This game consisted of the two boys laying on the pillow and me covering them up with every blanket they could find (see below), then Hayden would giggle and tell me to leave so they could take a nap--though I would only pretend to leave, as Hayden isn't quite ready to babysit his 6 week old brother yet. I love seeing their two little heads peeking out under all those blankets.
Also yesterday, I was making dinner and Jonah started fussing a bit in his bouncy chair. Hayden came over to sit by Jonah and started patting him on the tummy and said "It's alright, baby. It's alright." I guess I must say that a lot when trying to calm Jonah.

I thought I would sneak a shower this morning as Jonah was napping and Hayden was watching Curious George (which is usually guaranteed to keep Hayden occupied for 20 uninterrupted minutes). Of course, once I got in the shower, Jonah woke up and started crying and Hayden came in to tell me he didn't want to watch "George Monkey Show." I asked him to give Jonah his binkie, and I hurried to finish my shower. When I got out, Jonah was still crying, and Hayden was sitting next to him with the binkie in one hand. But, Hayden had given Jonah his beloved blanket and stuffed bunny, two things Hayden loves dearly and does not part with easily. What a thoughtful brother! I guess he figured that since the binkie didn't work, he'd give his brother what makes him happy.

And finally, tonight Jonah and Hayden took their first bath together. Aren't they cute?!

7th Anniversary

On Sunday, Jay and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary (woah). Jay made me this slideshow as my present--isn't he thoughtful?!

One Month!

Jonah was one month old last week, and I can't believe it! It seems like he just got here, and now he's already been with us for over a month. Here's his one month picture with Daddy:
Jonah is such a sweet baby, and he has us all wrapped around his adorable little finger. He is packing on the weight and growing like a champ--at his one month checkup, he weighed 11 lbs. 2 oz. (75 percentile) and was almost 23 inches long (90th percentile).

Here's a family shot:
Some other cute pics of him from the last week:

Welcome to the Fiery Furnace

Because they love us so much, my sister Erin, her family and my mom came to visit us for a week at the end of July. They were here to help out with the baby and play. I feel bad they happened to come on the hottest week so far this year, but what can you do?! We made due and found fun things to do inside and in the water.

Hayden absolutely loved having his cousin Tyler here every day to play with, and they got along very well (for toddlers). Here they are with a fishing game my sister and her husband made for them:
They are sporting matching goose eggs on their foreheads due to coming around a corner from different directions at exactly the same time (and they're eating the ice they were supposed to put on their heads, silly boys):

We had lots of fun: going to Grimaldi's for pizza, shopping at two different malls, playing at a splash pad, swimming with my cousin-in-law Heidi and her cute kids, playing at a bounce house, and seeing the latest Harry Potter movie (thanks, Mom, for babysitting!). I would have spent all week in my pajamas doing nothing, so I'm glad they were here to help and keep me active. Thanks for all your help, babysitting, cooking and cleaning. I miss you already!

We were also lucky to get a visit from my best friend Kelli and her super-adorable son Grant. They live in Brazil and were here for their yearly trip to the States. Ah, how I miss her!
